The 2026 Municipal Election will take place Monday, October 26th.

Our municipal governments a cornerstone of our democratic system: strong, effective and close to the people. They handle all the services, programs and issues that affect our daily lives, from roads and sidewalks to fire services, by-law issues and land planning.

In the last 2022 municipal election, turnout was just over 22% of eligible voters. WE MUST DO BETTER.

Details:

St. Aidan's church is able to accommodate 120 people seated for the debate. Plan to arrive early, as all parking will be street parking. There is no on-site parking at the church itself. You may choose to use a ride share service or local taxi, car pool with neighbours or use a local municipal parking lot near Kerr Street and walk to the church. Plan ahead .

Format

  • Invitations have been extended to all five Mayoral candidates as well as all candidates running for the positions of Ward 2 Town & Regional Councillor and Ward 2 Town Councillor.
  • Each candidate will be given an opportunity to present a brief outline of who they are and their platform
  • A moderator will pose pre-selected questions in three phases of the meeting, starting with Mayoral candidates, followed by Regional and lastly, Town candidates.
  • No questions will be taken from the audience.
